Dancing with Dr. Forbes: An Inside Scoop

by WPS Admin on December 3, 2019
In General Meet Our Providers

Dancing Through Life!

As you might have noticed, it recently has seemed that Dr. Forbes has been dancing through life! Our social media has been filled with videos and pictures of her learning different choreography and we would all like to learn more!  We decided to interview her to get the inside scoop.

Hi Dr. Forbes! A lot of our patients have been asking, Why are you dancing?

First off, I am so encouraged by everyone who has stopped me to ask about the dancing! I’m a participant in a United Way Fundraiser Gala called “Dancing With Our Stars”.
My focus is supporting mental health in the community.  I #Live United by uniting physical and mental health in my practice, my family and my life.

How did you get chosen?

The contestants are community leaders selected by the organizations they support.  In my case, the organization I am representing is Pediplace Clinic.  Pediplace is a clinic for children who lack insurance or who use Medicaid. Pediplace was started by community leaders, including our own Dr. Kincaid and Dr. Holt, who wanted to make healthcare a reality for all kids.

How is the dancing going?

It is a lot of fun and a fabulous way to get cardio exercise!  People who know me well know I love to dance.  If I could have a second or third career, I would have been a professional dancer and eventually a dance instructor. I am very fortunate that my daughter has the same love and I’ve enjoyed many wonderful years of watching her perform.

What has been the most challenging?

Learning from different choreographers and adapting to their teaching styles is challenging.  I am very happy that I have an energetic and hardworking dance partner.  We are working on some exciting things: lifts and twirls and floor work and I have the bruises to prove it!

How can we be a part of the experience?

I’ll provide a link in a few weeks on our facebook and Instagram pages where you can offer encouraging words and donate to the fundraiser.  Also check out UNITED Tribute for information on attending and rooting me on in person!
