BEAMS Counseling Program
MD Pediatrics is pleased to announce our new Behavior, Emotional, and Mental Support program (BEAMS)! Our practice is partnering with Flower Mound Counseling to offer counseling appointments in both the Coppell and Flower Mound locations.
The new BEAMS Program builds on an initial assessment to offer recommendations and guidance on what would benefit your child and family.
• Parent/Child Counseling, ages 4 and up
• Group Counseling for Behavioral Difficulties, ages 8-12 & 13-17
• ADHD Strategic Therapy Sessions, including parent coaching
To find out if a BEAMS assessment would be right for your child, ask your provider during a scheduled appointment. You can also call our office at 972-420-1475 to request a BEAMS evaluation.
BEAMS FAQ:
1. What is the BEAMS Program?
BEAMS stands for Behavioral, Emotional, and Mental Support. This counseling program is our newest tool to help families with children who require specialized behavioral care. Program specifics are tailored to each individual child’s and family’s needs, focusing on skills, education, and empowerment.
2. Who is eligible to participate in the program?
Any current MD Pediatrics patient over the age of 4 is eligible for an evaluation.
3. What kind of appointments are available?
ADHD coaching, individualized Strategic Family Therapy, and age-specific Group Counseling.
4. What are Group Counseling Sessions like?
Group sessions happen on weekends for one hour, and are split into age groups: ages 8-12, and 13-17 years. Parents and caregivers meet in one room with a counselor while the children meet in a separate room with another counselor. Children and youth will work with counselors through activities, crafts, and games to learn practical social adaptive skills.
5. Will my insurance cover this?
Brain Dynamics is a self-pay service since insurers cover behavioral health in a variety of ways. Our goal is to make these services as affordable as possible with predictable costs. Receipts will be available for submission for reimbursement from insurer or employer funded programs (like HSA or HRA accounts).
