Since I can remember I always had a love for medicine and health. After high school I attended Texas Woman’s University and graduated with a Biology degree and planned to become a pediatrician. Just after studying very hard and taking the MCAT I found out I was pregnant with my first child. I started questioning the timing of pursuing a career in medicine while trying to raise a family. I did not apply to medical school but instead applied to dental school to become a dentist. What a great honor to be accepted, however I believed it was still not my timing for starting a career outside the home. Four children later, I started pursuing my career as a nurse. Though it was very difficult working and going to school full time, I feel very blessed for having been able to stay home full time with my children when they were young.
I am very grateful for my family who has been very supportive in helping me achieve my goal of being a pediatric nurse practitioner. Being able to work with kids and their families is a great privilege and is something I truly enjoy!
